Article description:
Conductive thread made of stainless steel fiber
You can use it in a creative way to connect various electronics to your clothes.
This conductive thread stands out from many other similar products because it is actually spun from stainless steel fibers. It is not made of plated silver and does not have a nylon core. This means that although it is not easy to solder because it is rustproof, it also does not burn if you touch it with a soldering iron.
It is also a bit “hairy” and can be a little more difficult to work with in tight, fine spaces. Here it is recommended to wax the thread for hand sewing, this makes it easier to use when sewing.
Gloves and smartphones - they don't mix? - Wrong!
You can still operate your smartphone with a conductive thread.
Whether in summer or winter. There are many reasons to wear gloves.
As a motorcyclist, do you want to use your smartphone without taking off your gloves?
Do you want to use your smartphone in the cold season without taking off your gloves?
Quickly Type a message on the snow slopes during your winter holiday without taking off your gloves?
Take a photo without taking off your gloves?
Many current smartphones are not designed for glove operation. Gloves and touch screens don't necessarily mix. The operation is based on measuring the surface tension. Some current must flow and the material must be conductive. Unfortunately, wool, cotton and synthetic fibers are not conductive. The touchscreens do not respond.
But here is exactly the right solution for you!
A conducting thread. This makes your gloves touchscreen compatible
Instructions for use
All you need is a needle and this thread that conducts electricity. In this way, the non-conductive glove material can be bridged.
First you have to put on your glove and mark the point where the finger you want to use to operate the touchscreen touches the inside of the glove fingertip. It is important that there is a connection between the finger and the seam, otherwise the electric current will not be transmitted from the finger.
At the marked point, sew a small star, a square made of lines or even a circle with many small circles. Whatever you want. Then sew the thread on the inside. Repeat this with all of the glove fingers that you want to make conductive. That's it. Now your smartphone or tablet can also be operated with a glove.
