All functions operate fully locally without requiring any cloud service. With Bluetooth for quick pairing, protections against overheating, over-voltage and overload, and support for both leading-edge and trailing-edge dimming, it is designed for reliable long-term in-wall operation.

The device integrates seamlessly with major open-source platforms such as Home Assistant, openHAB, ioBroker, SmartThings and MQTT, enabling powerful local automations. The Gen3 platform also introduces extended features such as offline-capable schedules, sunrise/sunset automation, webhooks, virtual components and advanced mjS scripting for custom logic. It additionally acts as a Bluetooth gateway for Shelly BLU sensors, even in fully offline environments.
