The SONOFF Dongle Lite MG21 is a compact Zigbee 3.0 USB coordinator built on the proven, energy-efficient EFR32MG21 radio chipset. It delivers stable, fast and reliable wireless communication for smart-home platforms such as Home Assistant (ZHA), Zigbee2MQTT, openHAB, ioBroker, Domoticz and Jeedom. The dongle is ideal for creating a local Zigbee network, pairing devices from different brands and managing them centrally without any cloud dependency.

Its slim, lightweight design allows easy installation in various USB ports, or it can be positioned interference-free using the included 0.5 m USB extension cable. The adjustable external antenna offers flexible alignment and achieves stable coverage of up to 140 meters in open environments. The extended antenna design also minimizes interference from nearby USB 3.0 ports and peripheral devices.

The dongle ships with preinstalled EmberZNet firmware and supports fast and seamless pairing of Zigbee devices. It can also be used as a Zigbee router to extend network range and improve mesh stability. For advanced users, the MG21 supports additional firmware modes such as Zigbee NCP, Zigbee Router, OpenThread RCP and MultiPAN. This enables operation alongside a Thread Border Router for Matter-over-Thread devices, allowing both Zigbee and Thread devices to be managed with a single dongle.

The MG21 works out-of-the-box on Windows, Ubuntu, Raspberry Pi OS and in Docker environments with true plug-and-play behavior. For users who need deeper customization, the dongle supports easy firmware flashing via the SONOFF Dongle Flasher Tool.
