SONOFF ZBDongle-E is a universal Zigbee USB stick. It can be used as a Zigbee gateway in Home Assistant, openHAB, Zigbee2MQTT, or other open-source platforms to locally control all your Zigbee devices, so you don't need to invest in different brands' Zigbee hubs, all you need is a universal gateway - ZBDongle-E!

The Dongle Plus supports a variety of devices from different brands and manufacturers. It comes with pre-installed coordinator firmware. However, you can also use multi-protocol firmware for Thread (Matter) or router firmware to extend the network range.

Additionally, the Dongle Plus is compatible with popular systems such as Linux, Ubuntu, Raspbian, Windows, and macOS (driver installation is required for Windows and macOS).

Zigbee2MQTT / ZHA (Original)

Pre-flashed with Zigbee coordinator firmware based on EZNet 6.10.3 out of the box.

Zigbee2MQTT is an open-source software that allows you to integrate Zigbee devices into your smart home system without proprietary hubs. Using a Zigbee USB dongle and MQTT protocol, you can centrally control a variety of Zigbee devices from different manufacturers. Ideal for users who value flexibility and broad device support.

Zigbee Home Automation (ZHA) is a native integration in Home Assistant that enables easy and direct control of Zigbee devices. Without additional software, ZHA offers a user-friendly setup and seamless integration, perfect for beginners and users who prefer a straightforward solution.

Multiprotokoll - Thread (Matter)

Flashed with MultiPAN RCP - Zigbee + Thread (Matter) Firmware

Multiprotokoll-Firmware (MultiPAN RCP) enables simultaneous support for various wireless protocols, including Zigbee and Thread (Matter). This firmware extends the functionality of Zigbee USB dongles, allowing them to be used in multi-protocol networks. Ideal for users seeking future-proof and versatile smart home solutions. The multiprotocol firmware is still in the experimental stage and is currently only supported by Home Assistant.

Router / Repeater

Flashed with Zigbee router firmware based on EZNet 6.10.3.

Note: Unlike when used as a coordinator for ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT, the SONOFF ZBDongle-E is not connected to your SmartHome system but instead is directly connected to a USB power adapter (not included). This allows you to place it exactly where the Zigbee signals need to be amplified.
